If you are looking for pumping unit gears, you have come to the right place. We have spent over 30
years gathering information about pumping unit gear reducers. From "A - Z" we have the most extensive
and all-inclusive amount of information and it is still growing. Every day we are expanding our product line
in the pursuit to give our customers what they need. We have studied the types of material used to produce
these gears and the heat-treating needed in order to reproduce the gears to OEM (Original Equipment
Manufacturer) and AGMA (American Gear Manufacturers Association) standards.

When it comes to gear reducers they,
come in several different types. The most
popular types of gear for pumping unit gear
reducers are herringbone gears. We
produce herringbone gears from .750 and up
to 63" in diameter. We cut herringbone gears
with a max face width of 24". Our machines
can cut a max DP (Diametral Pitch) of 2 and
as small as 24.The machines are setup to
produce a 30° helix for herringbone gears
which is pretty much a standard. Below is a
list of brands that we are producing
replacement herringbone gears for.

There are reducers with double helical
gears which are similar in design but are
not called a herringbone. These gears can
be cut on a shaper or a gear hobber but
have a gap between the left and right hand
gears. We can produce double helical gears.
Hobbling we can cut a max major diameter of
35" with a 12" face width. Although a double
helical is not a herringbone it provides some
of the same benefits such as no lateral
thrust. Below is a list of some manufacturers
that produced a double helical reducer.

I'm sure there are more we don't know of at the moment.

Helical gear reducers are a popular and
economical type of reducer. Helical reducers
must have a stronger gear case because of
the side thrust produced when under a load.
We can cut helical gears by either shaping
or hobbing. Hobbing is the most common
way. We can cut helical gears up to 34" in
diameter and a max face with of 12". Below
is a list of manufacturers.

We can produce gear for pre-API or API (American Petroleum Institute) gear reducers from size 6 through
1280. Most units have a tag on the sampson post and on the gear box that will have all the information needed
to order a replacement gear. Although we don't have all the information on all the different sizes, we can
reveres engineer your old parts and manufacture replacements as good as new or even better. Ram-Gear
Manufacturing is an authorized Lufkin parts distributor and is approved by Lufkin to reproduce gears and parts
for their earlier models. The parts we produce are not sold as Lufkin parts but as reproductions and are not in
anyway a product of Lufkin.

We manufacture gears for triplex pumps
or mud pumps. We have prints on a lot of the
major brands and can manufacture a
replacement gear upon request. Most of the
time all we need is the Model and the part
number for the gear you need. Below is a
list of some brands we make gears for.

There are countless other types of gear reducers and pumps. We wanted to show what we are
doing and give you some idea of what we can do. Punch press, Heavy Equipment, Lathe, Grinders, and
more, you will find a wide range of gear types like Herringbone, Helical, Spur, Splines (internal & external),
Worm Gears, and Sprockets. At Ram Gear we can provide the expertise to manufacture the parts to get
you up and running. For a description of gears click on gear types.
